About Course

University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) was established in the year 1998 with the affiliation of T.U. and recognized by Nepal Medical Council (NMC) & is considered as the pioneer institute in Nepal in the field of Medicine & dentistry. This college was established for training eminent medical professional from all over the world. As on today, more than 2000 doctors including MBBS, BDS & Post Graduation(PG) have passed out from the college & are practicing all over the world.

The college is located at Bhairahawa in Rupandehi district, Lumbini Zone which is one of the education & business hubs of Nepal. It is near the Indo-Nepal boarder town Sonuli (2km). The college is situated just 15 km away from Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, which is considered as the main attraction of tourism in Nepal.

At present, college is running various programs in Bachelor & Post Graduate Degree like MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. Nursing, B.N, B.MLT & B. Pharmacy. Since 2009/10 college has started MD/MS program in 16 specialities and also 5 specialities in MDS.

Currently we are having a 750 bedded multi speciality hospital with ultra modern equipments & renowned faculties from Nepal & India and other countries. The college has always given importance towards the health care of the people & their well being. It has always been in the forefront to provide the best medical care & education.With the history of more than 18 year of excellence in the field of medical education, UCMS aims to maintain the philosphy of imparting quality education & health service for a health tomorrow.

Objectives

1. Serve as a comprehensive education resource by providing quality educational programs to match the best available in this area.
2. Prepare its students for the graduate/post graduate medical degrees whereby they acquire knowledge and skills in all aspects of health care and prepare them for the next phase of their professional education.
3. Increase substantially the number of physicians from the under represented groups, i.e., minorities and women.
4. Institute's research endeavors are aimed towards development of new health-related knowledge in various fields, including: Preventive and Pro-motive health, Rehabilitation and comprehensive health care.
5. Efficient, cost-effective health service delivery system.
6. To solve the health problems of urban and rural communities.
